Mrs Caroline Benstead - shopkeeper . Mrs Benstead - a 73-year-old widow - apparently runs a sweetshop / general shop at these premises. The house is named 'Bensteads' in her memory.(K 1896, C1901, LM)

1908
Samuel Burton Stannard - Shopkeeper (K1908).

 

1916
Samuel Burton Stannard - Shopkeeper (K1916) This is probably a 'front-room' shop. In the 1911 census he describes himself as a 'Jobbing Gardener'.

Note: Kelly's Directory shows the address as East Green. The census of 1901 and 1911 calls it 'East Cliff Green'. It was renamed 'St James Green' at about this date.
